Oregon Department of Human Services
The DHS mission, goals and core values. . .Helping people to become independent, healthy and safe
This mission statement sets out the purpose and guides the activities of our large, complex organization. We crafted these words after consultations with our many partners.
In support of our mission, and to gauge our progress, we have established four broad goals. Each is supported in turn by specific, measurable outcomes that we strive to achieve.
This approach — stating goals, measuring results, reporting our progress to the public — complements a broader strategy devised by the Oregon Progress Board.
In the board's Oregon Benchmarks, the state has a pioneering set of objectives intended to enhance the quality of life for all Oregonians. The Benchmarks seek to unite Oregon around a vision of quality jobs, safe, caring communities and a healthy, sustainable environment.
Our mission statement, our goals and our values reflect our commitment to that vision.
