Description:
The Segway PT is a two-wheeled, self-balancing electric vehicle that relies on computers and motors in the base of the device to keep the Segway PT upright when powered on with balancing enabled. 

A user commands the Segway to go forward by shifting their weight forward on the platform, and backward by shifting their weight backward.  Gyroscopic sensors and fluid-based leveling sensors are used to detect the shift of weight. To turn, the user manipulates the handlebar left or right.

Segways perform best in areas with adequate sidewalks, curb cuts at intersections, and ramps. 

Candidates that might benefit from the use of a Segway include those who have sustained injuries which have resulted in the amputation of one or both legs, extensive soft tissue and muscle injuries, traumatic burn injuries, spinal cord injuries, and other neurological injuries and disorders.
